Privacy Policy - Rehnuma-e-Hajj
Last updated: 2026-09-19
Rehnuma-e-Hajj (“the app”) is a Hajj and Umrah preparation tracker published by SafeJourney Labs.
Data collection
Rehnuma-e-Hajj has no user accounts and no server of its own. Everything you enter - your name, program dates, prayer and qaza records, recitation counts, walking distance, and daily notes - is stored only on your device, in local on-device storage. We never receive it, and it is never uploaded anywhere.
The app contains no analytics, advertising, attribution, or crash-reporting SDKs. We collect no identifiers, no usage statistics, and no diagnostics.
Notifications
If you turn reminders on, the app schedules local notifications through your operating system. Their content and schedule are generated and delivered entirely on your device; nothing about them is sent to any server.
Step counting (motion permission)
The Walking screen can count your steps automatically. This is optional and off until you allow it. To do this the app asks your phone for Motion & Fitness (iPhone) or Physical activity (Android) permission and reads the step count from your phone’s built-in step sensor.
The step count is used only to fill in your walking distance for the day. It is stored on your device with the rest of your data and is never sent anywhere. The app does not use GPS or location, and does not read your movements for any other purpose.
Steps are counted while the app is open or running in the background. When the app is fully closed, steps cannot be counted. If you do not allow the permission, the app works the same way, and you can enter your distance yourself. You can change your choice at any time in your phone’s Settings, under the app’s permissions.
Video content
Some screens offer optional reference videos: a how-to video about calculating
qaza prayers, and reference recitations. These are not stored in the app.
They are embedded from YouTube, through YouTube’s privacy-enhanced
youtube-nocookie.com player, and load only if you choose to open one.
When you play a video, YouTube (a Google service) receives the request. As with opening any web page, that includes your device’s IP address and standard request information, and it is governed by Google’s privacy policy at https://policies.google.com/privacy. None of your app data - your name, your logs, your counts - is included in that request, and no video plays unless you tap to play it.
Links to other apps
Some screens can hand you off to another app you already have: the Google Play Store to check for an update, or a fitness app such as Google Fit, Samsung Health, or Apple Health from the walking guidance screen. The app only opens these; it does not read anything from them, and it sends them none of your data.
Backup and restore
You can export your data to a file and import it back later. The export is written on your device and goes only where you choose to send it, using your device’s own share sheet. We never see it, and the app uploads it nowhere.
Data deletion
You can erase everything at any time from Profile and Settings -> Reset all progress, or by uninstalling the app. Uninstalling removes all local data.
Children
The app is a general-audience religious tool. It does not knowingly collect any information from anyone, of any age, because it collects no information at all.
Changes to this policy
